Fred Stesney was born and raised in la ciudad de Puebla de Los Angeles. His first instrument was the cello, which he played from the 6 th to the 9 th grade. In the mid-90's, he fronted the loungecore sensation Black Velvet Flag. BVF played all over America, garnering both critical acclaim and threats of physical violence. When the bass player quit, Fred picked up la guitara de baja. (All those cello lessons paid off after all.) Since then, Fred has performed with rock, jazz, dark ambient, and bluegrass acts. He joined Sweet William in September of 2003, and now that is the only band he plays with.
